If you miss the deadline
No practice grace period for either license. MD: under 26 V.S.A. § 1400(f), a physician who practices without renewing is "deemed an illegal practitioner" and forfeits the right to practice until reinstated by the Board; § 1400(g) allows reinstatement on payment of the renewal fee, the late renewal penalty, and completion of CME and other requirements, and the Board's site lists a $650 reinstatement application (same as initial application) filed through VtBMPOnline. Military members on active deployment get up to a 90-day extension if they notify the Board before expiration. DO: 26 V.S.A. § 1836(a) suspends all license privileges on the expiration date; a license expired not more than one biennial period can be reinstated by meeting renewal requirements, paying the renewal fee, and paying the 3 V.S.A. § 127(d) penalty; practice on a license expired more than two years, or knowing practice on an expired license, can be prosecuted as unauthorized practice.
